Highlights of a Hiking Tour in Aukstaitija National Park and Astronomical Observatory :

The park is about 2 hours drive from Vilnius. It is wonderful both in summer and winter. You can find there almost all kinds of natural habitats and soil types which are described in Lithuania. Vegetation varies from steppe to tundra species, many rare bird and animal species finds a sanctuary here. For an example, 59% of all Lithuania’s native plant species were found in the park. As well you can indulge amazing green nature, blue water and sky views.
This hiking trip is for those, who would like to escape from the city, take a breath of fresh air, enjoy scenic views and learn about traditional Lithuanian food, architecture, ancestors occupation and customs.
Itinerary:
The local guide will pick you up from the hotel and take for about 2 hours drive. The first stop is Moletu Astronomical Observatory, which locates The Astronomy Museum and it is still operating as a part of Vilnius University. After you reach Paluse village you will walk a very picturesque hiking trail, learning about local plants, animals and countryside. After that you will start to drive with two stops on the way, visiting Ledakalnio hill and Siliniskiu observational tower with amazing view to the lakes and forests from the top.
While driving back you will stop at The Geographical Center of Europe which is marked with a sculpture and the park.
